about the artist
Even as a young child, John always loved to scribble, color, draw, and make marks on anything that was available. (not an interest that was always supported by his Mother). Growing up in Sidney, Ohio in the 1950’s and 60’s he was raised in a culture of honesty, hard work, loyalty to friends, and faith in God. After discovering that the fairer sex were interesting to know and spending countless hours developing friendships with them, it became apparent that military school would provide a sturdy trellis upon which the young Mr. Andrews could grow. The college years were spent studying fine art, communications, and radio/tv broadcasting at Bowling Green State University and at Ohio University in Athens Ohio.
John and his college sweetheart, Sally Dickinson (originally from Springfield and graduated from Shawnee class of 1970) married in Springfield in 1974.
After spending time living in Findlay, Huron, and Norwalk Ohio painting lines on the highways, John and Sally moved to Springfield, Ohio in 1983. After five relatively unsuccessful years selling term life insurance, he started doing pen and ink drawings professionally for homeowners, parents, businesses and locations around Springfield and Yellow Springs. Postcards, prints, T-shirts, coffee mugs, fraternity and sorority paddles, you name it.
After years of lugging boxes, sorting goods, printing, counting, boxing, delivering, (and have I left out anything?) I am 73 years old, am a fairly decent artist and have decided to focus on the production of artwork, and surrounded myself with professional, capable, competent producers of final products that are willing to ship them to your door.
